Announcement for Schools, Parents, and Students Regarding the UCI Road World Championships

The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the City of Kigali, informs all schools (nursery, primary, secondary, and tertiary), parents, and students that in preparation for hosting the UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda from September 21–28, 2025, schools will have a special academic break during that period.

This decision is intended to facilitate smooth preparations and the running of the competition, while ensuring the safety and order of citizens and participants.

Key points:

• All schools in the City of Kigali will close for a special holiday starting from September 21, 2025.

• Classes will resume as usual on September 29, 2025.

• Students are encouraged to use this period effectively by engaging in self-learning through reading, educational radio/TV programs, and other available materials. Parents are requested to supervise and support students in their studies.

The Ministry of Education thanks all parents, teachers, and students for their cooperation and understanding, and calls upon everyone to welcome visitors who will come to Rwanda for this major international event.
