Catholic University of Rwanda Announces Scholarships for Nursing and Midwifery Programs – September 2026 Intake

The Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) under the 4×4 Strategy, has announced scholarship opportunities for students seeking to study Nursing and Midwifery in the September 2026 intake.

The scholarships cover tuition fees only and are available to eligible candidates who meet the required academic and admission conditions.

Available Scholarship Programs

The scholarship opportunity is available for the following undergraduate programs:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Honours
  • Bachelor of Science in Midwifery with Honours

Eligible applicants are encouraged to submit their applications within the announced application period.

Application Period

Applications for the September 2026 intake will be accepted from:

📅 August 28 to September 11, 2026

Shortlisted candidates will later be invited to sit for an admission test. The date of the test will be communicated to shortlisted applicants.

Eligibility Requirements

According to the scholarship announcement, applicants must have completed general secondary education with one of the required combinations, including:

  • Physics-Chemistry-Biology (PCB)
  • Mathematics-Chemistry-Biology (MCB)
  • Biology-Chemistry-Geography
  • Other qualifications applicable to the Associate Nursing programs.

Academic Requirements

For candidates who completed secondary school from 2024 onwards, the announcement states that applicants should have at least Grade E in Biology and Chemistry, with an overall average of 60%.

For candidates who completed secondary school before 2024, applicants should have at least Grade C in Biology and Chemistry.

For A2 Nurses, applicants should have a minimum average of 60% and Grade E in both Biology and Chemistry, or in both Fundamentals of Nursing and Clinical Attachment, as applicable.

Applicants should also meet the minimum admission requirements established by the Higher Education Council (HEC) and the university.

Admission Test and Scholarship Selection

Candidates who meet the minimum admission requirements will be required to sit for an admission test.

The final selection of scholarship beneficiaries will be based on their admission test scores.

Therefore, meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not automatically guarantee a scholarship.

Important Conditions for Scholarship Beneficiaries

Selected students will be required to sign an agreement with the Ministry of Health.

According to the announcement, the agreement is intended to facilitate their absorption into the health system after graduation. Scholarship beneficiaries will consequently be required to serve for a minimum period after completing their studies.

The announcement also states that students who are currently receiving another scholarship funded by the Government or its partners are not eligible to apply.
