The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), through the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), has officially announced the launch of the 2025/2026 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), scheduled to take place from 7 July to 9 July 2026 across Rwanda.
According to the official press release issued on 6 July 2026, a total of 277,452 Primary Six candidates will sit for the national examinations at designated examination centres nationwide. The examinations mark an important milestone in Rwanda's education system, assessing learners' readiness to transition from primary to lower secondary education.
Minister of Education to Officially Launch the Examinations
The official launch ceremony will be led by the Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana, alongside the Minister of State for Education, Claudette Irere, the Director General of NESA, Dr. Bernard Bahati, and other senior officials from MINEDUC and its affiliated institutions.
Government officials will simultaneously visit examination centres across the country to oversee the smooth administration of the examinations and encourage candidates.

The Primary Leaving Examinations play a critical role in maintaining the quality, credibility, and integrity of Rwanda's education system. Through careful planning and nationwide coordination, MINEDUC and NESA continue to ensure that examinations are conducted in a secure, transparent, and fair environment for every learner.
