About eFiche

eFiche is a Rwanda-based digital health company building AI-enabled clinical tools for nurses and midwives across Rwanda’s primary health care system. Our AI outputs — clinical decision support recommendations, risk flags, prescribing guidance, danger sign alerts — must be not only technically functional but clinically accurate, contextually appropriate, and aligned with Rwanda’s national clinical guidelines. Validating this, across an expanding portfolio of clinical workflow domains, requires someone who bridges the technical and clinical worlds with equal confidence.

We are looking for a UAT & Clinical Quality Tester to own user acceptance testing at facility level and the clinical quality validation of AI outputs across all our workflow modules.

Purpose of the Role

The UAT & Clinical Quality Tester conducts structured user acceptance testing at health facilities and validates AI output quality across multiple clinical workflow modules, ensuring each module is both usable and clinically appropriate before and during scale-up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute structured UAT test plans at pilot and scale-up facilities for each workflow module, engaging nurses, midwives, and other frontline users as primary testers
  • Document user feedback, usability issues, and workflow friction points per module; synthesise findings for the product and training teams
  • Work with the Clinical Trainer and Clinical Pharmacy Advisor to develop and maintain a clinical validation rubric for each workflow module
  • Validate AI output quality against those rubrics, tracking concordance with Rwanda national clinical guidelines per workflow
  • Flag anomalies, recurring errors, or clinically unsafe outputs to the Technical Lead promptly, with clear documentation
  • Maintain a module-by-module validation status tracker across all active clinical workflow domains
  • Support the MoH AI Laboratory certification process by providing structured testing evidence per workflow module
  • Collaborate with Field Support & Adoption Officers during facility visits
  • Contribute to test documentation and evidence packages for milestone reviews and funder reporting

Required Profile

  • Background in health informatics, nursing, clinical officer training, or a related health field — OR a tech-savvy professional with substantial experience across multiple clinical service areas
  • 3+ years of experience in health system work, digital health, or software testing in a health context
  • Ability to work across diverse clinical contexts — from mental health to maternal care to pharmacy
  • Ability to interpret clinical guidelines and apply them in a structured evaluation context
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and organisational skills — managing validation status across multiple modules requires rigour
  • Experience with Rwanda’s primary health care system or national health information systems is a strong advantage
  • Kinyarwanda fluency required; English proficiency required
  • Willingness to travel to health facilities regularly

System & Functional QA Tester at EFICHE Ltd: (Deadline 13 April 2026)

System & Functional QA Tester

Reporting to: Technical Lead (AI/EMR) Location: Kigali, Rwanda Type: Full-time

Health

About eFiche

eFiche is a Rwanda-based digital health company building AI-enabled clinical features across a growing portfolio of health workflow modules used by nurses and midwives at Rwanda’s primary health care facilities. Each module — covering domains from antenatal care to child health, non-communicable diseases, mental health, nutrition, and more — has its own clinical logic, user interactions, and quality requirements. As our release cycles accelerate and our portfolio expands, we need dedicated testing capacity embedded within the development cycle to ensure every release meets the quality bar that frontline clinical use demands.

We are looking for a System & Functional QA Tester to own structured testing across our full and growing portfolio of clinical workflow modules.

Purpose of the Role

The System & Functional QA Tester is embedded in the development cycle, responsible for structured functional testing of new features and regression testing after each release across all active clinical workflow modules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute structured functional test cases for AI-enabled features across all active clinical workflow modules
  • Maintain a clear view of test coverage status across the full workflow portfolio — knowing which modules are in active development, which are in staging, and which are live
  • Conduct regression testing after each development sprint or release cycle, ensuring updates to one module do not break others
  • Log, track, and verify resolution of bugs using the project’s issue tracking system (Jira), maintaining clean and up-to-date records across multiple workstreams
  • Develop and maintain test scripts and test case documentation per workflow module
  • Collaborate with developers to reproduce issues and validate fixes
  • Coordinate with the AI Services Backend Engineer to verify that AI output formatting and API behaviour are consistent across workflow modules
  • Escalate critical issues to the Technical Lead and contribute to release readiness decisions

Required Profile

  • 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance or system testing
  • Familiarity with web and mobile application testing methodologies
  • Experience with bug tracking and project management tools (Jira or equivalent)
  • Ability to manage testing workload across multiple parallel workstreams without losing track of priorities
  • Basic understanding of APIs and ability to use tools such as Postman for simple API testing is an advantage
  • Health tech or EMR testing experience is an advantage
  • Detail-oriented, systematic, and comfortable working in agile sprint cycles with multiple active modules

Reporting to: Technical Lead (AI/EMR) Location: Kigali, Rwanda Type: Full-time

About eFiche

Health

eFiche is a Rwanda-based digital health company building the AI services layer that powers clinical decision support, ambient transcription, risk flagging, and clinical summaries for nurses and midwives working across Rwanda’s primary health care system. We receive structured clinical data from health facility workflows, process it through AI models, and return actionable outputs that support better, safer care decisions at the point of consultation.

Purpose of the Role

The AI Services Backend Engineer builds and maintains the server-side logic of the AI platform — the services that process clinical data, orchestrate AI model calls, format outputs, and communicate reliably with national health system integration points.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain the backend services and APIs that power eFiche’s AI features across transcription, clinical decision support, risk flagging, and clinical summaries
  • Build and manage data pipelines that receive structured clinical inputs, process them through AI models, and return outputs in the correct format
  • Coordinate with integration partners on API specifications, payload structures, and endpoint behaviour
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and performance across all AI backend services
  • Implement error handling, logging, and monitoring to ensure AI service reliability at scale
  • Write and maintain backend test suites; support QA testers in reproducing and resolving issues
  • Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials for the Ministry of Health

Required Profile

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Node.js, Python, Java, or equivalent)
  • Solid experience with REST API design and consumption
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent) and data modelling
  • Familiarity with AI/ML service integration (calling model APIs, handling model outputs) is a strong advantage
  • Understanding of health data privacy principles (de-identification, role-based access) is an advantage
  • HL7 FHIR familiarity is an advantage but not required
