The University of Manchester Equity
and Merit Scholarships 2027 offer fully funded opportunities for
talented students from selected countries in Africa, including Rwanda,
to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom.
The scholarship is designed for
academically strong applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the
potential to contribute to sustainable development in their communities and
home countries.

Scholarship Benefits
The Equity and Merit Scholarships may
cover:
- Full tuition fees
- Return international airfare
- Living expenses
- Visa costs
The award is intended for students who
would otherwise be unable to study at the University of Manchester without
financial support.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a resident citizen of Rwanda, Ethiopia, Malawi,
Tanzania, Uganda or Zimbabwe.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution with the
required academic grade.
- Have obtained the bachelor’s degree before September
2025.
- Have at least two years of professional work experience related
to the chosen field of study. Unpaid internships and voluntary work do not
count.
- Demonstrate a commitment to returning home after completing the
programme.
- Show potential to make a positive contribution to the
development of their home country.
- Clearly explain how studying at Manchester will benefit their
career and wider community.
- Not have previously studied outside Africa, except for training
lasting six months or less.

applicants are invited to apply for their chosen master’s course
- 30 November 2026: Deadline to
submit English language qualification
- November 2026–May 2027: Applications

decisions announced
- September 2027: Academic year
begins

Important: Applicants
must meet the scholarship requirements and ultimately obtain an unconditional
offer for their chosen master’s programme before they can be
shortlisted for the scholarship.
How to Apply
Eligible applicants can apply for the University
of Manchester Equity and Merit Scholarship 2027 through the official
University of Manchester application process.
If selected for the scholarship process,
the University will invite eligible applicants to apply for their chosen
master’s course and provide a recognised English-language qualification that
meets the requirements of the programme.
Rwandans are eligible to apply.
