Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA) is a
Public Broadcaster with a mission of providing quality content that meets the
needs of the audience and promotes cultural values, socio-economic development
and citizen participation. RBA wishes to encourage all qualified, hardworking

- JOB TITLE: VIDEO JOURNALIST (VJ)
DEPARTMENT: RTV
REPORTING LINE: Head of RTV
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: CONTRACTUAL

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To research, gather, produce, and deliver high-quality video news and feature
content for television, digital, and social media platforms in accordance with
the broadcaster’s editorial standards, public service mandate, and strategic
objectives.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS
News Gathering and Reporting
- Identify, research, and develop news and feature stories.
- Cover breaking news, scheduled events, and special assignments.
- Conduct interviews with relevant stakeholders and subject
matter experts.
- Verify facts and ensure the accuracy, balance, and impartiality
of all content.
Video Production

- Operate cameras, audio, lighting, and mobile journalism
equipment.
- Capture high-quality video and audio content for broadcast and
digital use.
- Produce live and recorded reports from the field.
Script Writing and Story Development

- Write news scripts, voice-overs, and story treatments.
- Develop compelling story angles and visual narratives.
- Adapt content for different platforms and audiences.
Editing and Post-Production
- Edit video packages and news reports using approved software.
- Add graphics, subtitles, and other production elements where
necessary.
- Ensure timely delivery of content within newsroom deadlines.
Digital Content Creation
- Produce multimedia content for online and social media
platforms.
- Support the broadcaster’s digital-first content strategy.
- Create short-form videos and other audience-engagement content.
Editorial Compliance
- Adhere to editorial policies, journalistic ethics, and
broadcasting regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sources where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration
- Work closely with producers, editors, presenters, and technical
teams.
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute story ideas.
- Support special projects and coverage initiatives.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
REQUIRED PROFILES
Educational Qualifications
- A1 Degree or certificate of competence in Journalism,
Multimedia Production, Event Video, Video Communication, Film Production,
Mass Communication, Media Studies, Broadcasting, Communication, or a
related field.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in television journalism,
multimedia reporting, or video production.
- Experience in a broadcast newsroom is an added advantage.
Technical Competencies
- Camera operation and visual storytelling.
- Video editing using professional editing software.
- Audio recording and basic lighting techniques.
- Mobile journalism (MoJo) production.
- Digital publishing and content management systems.
