The position reports to the SPIU Coordinator and involves processing payments, reconciling bank and accounting records, preparing financial reports, monitoring project expenditures, and supporting audits. The role also includes financial responsibilities related to a World Bank-funded program under the PforR framework.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

1. Payment processing and financial transactions

  • Prepare payments after verifying and analyzing supporting documents in accordance with the established checklist.
  • Handle daily cash and credit transactions, particularly those relating to the World Bank-funded PforR program.
  • Work with donors and establish detailed records of direct payments made.

2. Reconciliation and account monitoring

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile cheque books with cash books and the general ledger (GL).
  • Monitor assigned accounts and provide timely feedback to the supervisor.
  • Track expenditures under each Disbursement-Linked Indicator (DLI), as prescribed in the project documents.

3. Financial reporting and expenditure management

  • Prepare statements of expenditure according to donor requirements.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Maintain the fixed assets register for assets acquired under the PforR program.
  • Ensure the safe custody of financial information and supporting documents.

4. Audit and other responsibilities

  • Facilitate internal and external audits and undertake related tasks.
  • Carry out other duties related to the position as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Eligibility

Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance.
