Position Summary
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Quality
Assurance and Regulatory Division Manager, the Coffee Quality Assurance and
Regulation Specialist will support the implementation of coffee quality
standards, export regulations, safety procedures, and quality control systems.
The successful candidate will contribute to strengthening compliance and
improving coffee quality throughout Rwanda’s coffee value chain.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following qualification and
experience requirements:
Option 1: Bachelor’s Degree

A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields:
- Food
Science and Technology
- Chemistry
- Microbiology
Applicants must have at least five (5) years of working
experience in the food industry, food regulation, or food quality control
sector.
Option 2: Master’s Degree
A Master’s degree in any of the following fields:
- Food
Science and Technology
- Chemistry
- Microbiology
Applicants must have at least three (3) years of working
experience in the food industry, food regulation, or food quality control
sector.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Coffee Quality Assurance and Regulation Specialist will
perform the following duties:
- Support
the development and implementation of NAEB’s coffee quality procedures,
export guidelines, and quality control requirements.
- Support
and conduct training programs on coffee safety, phytosanitary
requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Assess
the functionality of new and existing equipment used for coffee quality
analysis and establish appropriate maintenance plans.
- Collaborate
with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement coffee standards.
- Support
investigations and troubleshooting of quality, safety, and regulatory
issues affecting coffee from producers to exporters.
- Compile,
analyze, and report data on coffee quality indicators and performance.
- Develop
regulatory tools that facilitate the implementation of standards and
ensure compliance.
- Contribute
to capacity building for professionals working throughout Rwanda’s coffee
value chain.
Required Skills and Competencies
Applicants should demonstrate the following competencies:
Read Travel Guides
- Knowledge
of factors affecting coffee quality from production in the field through
processing and preparation for consumption.
- Strong
data analysis skills.
- Good
written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability
to work effectively in a team.
- Fluency
in English and/or French.
- Knowledge
of Kinyarwanda, English, and French communication requirements, as stated
in the vacancy announcement.
- Previous
experience working in the coffee value chain will be an added advantage.
