SOS Kayonza School is a comprehensive institution offering
Kindergarten, Primary Education, Lower Secondary Education (Ordinary Level),
TVET Short Courses (Tailoring, Carpentry, Welding and Hairdressing), together
with Day and Boarding Services. To strengthen the school's continued growth and
transformation, ISR-CBC is seeking an experienced, visionary and
results-oriented professional to serve as School Principal.
Job Purpose
The School Principal is the chief executive and
instructional leader of SOS Kayonza School and is responsible for providing
strategic leadership, ensuring academic excellence, strengthening English as
the primary language of communication and instruction, expanding TVET
opportunities, ensuring compliance with MINEDUC, NESA and other regulatory
requirements and driving the long-term growth and sustainability of the school.
The School Principal will cultivate a high-performance
culture that delivers outstanding learner outcomes, develops staff capability,
promotes innovation, strengthens stakeholder confidence, improves financial
sustainability, and positions SOS Kayonza School among Rwanda's leading centers
of educational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership and School Improvement
- Provide
visionary leadership and implement the School Improvement Plan aligned
with organizational and national education priorities.
- Promote
a culture of excellence, accountability, innovation, discipline and
continuous improvement.
- Lead
strategic planning, institutional performance monitoring and evidence-based
decision-making.
- Position
SOS Kayonza School among the top-performing schools in Rwanda.
2. Academic Leadership and Learner Achievement
- Ensure
effective implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum across
Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary and TVET programs.
- Monitor
learner performance and implement interventions to improve academic
outcomes.
- Conduct
classroom observations, instructional coaching and academic reviews.
- Promote
literacy, numeracy, digital learning, critical thinking and problem-solving
skills.
3. English Language Excellence
- Establish
English as the primary language of communication and instruction
throughout the school.
- Implement
English language improvement programs for learners and staff.
- Promote
an English-speaking culture through assemblies, debates, public speaking,
reading programs and staff development.
4. TVET Development and Innovation
- Strengthen
existing TVET programs and introduce new market-driven technical courses.
- Build
partnerships with industries, employers and training institutions.
- Promote
entrepreneurship, internships, apprenticeships and graduate employability.
- Ensure
all TVET programs comply with national quality and certification
standards.
5. Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure
full compliance with MINEDUC, NESA and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate
school inspection readiness and implement recommendations from inspections
and audits.
- Maintain
high standards of governance, quality assurance, safeguarding and risk
management.
6. Student Welfare and Boarding Management
- Ensure
a safe, inclusive and child-friendly learning environment.
- Oversee
boarding facilities and student welfare services.
- Promote
child safeguarding, positive discipline, leadership development and
psychosocial well-being.
7. Human Resource Leadership
- Support
recruitment, supervision, mentorship and development of teaching and
support staff.
- Implement
a performance management system with measurable annual targets.
- Promote
continuous professional development and teamwork.
8. Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build
productive relationships with parents, local authorities, development
partners, industries and the wider community.
- Represent
the school professionally in all external engagements.
- Promote
the school's reputation and strengthen stakeholder confidence.
9. Financial Sustainability and Resource Management
- Prepare
and manage the school's annual budget.
- Lead
initiatives that increase student enrolment and improve boarding
occupancy.
- Increase
internally generated revenue through program expansion, strategic
partnerships, facility utilization and approved income-generating
initiatives.
- Implement
cost-efficiency measures while maintaining educational quality and student
welfare.
- Ensure
transparent financial management, prudent resource utilization and
long-term institutional sustainability.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A master’s
degree in educational leadership, Educational Management, School Administration,
Curriculum Studies or another related education field.
OR
- A bachelor’s
degree in education or a related field with a minimum of three
(3) years of relevant educational leadership experience.
Professional training in Educational Leadership will be an
added advantage.
FinanceProfessionals
Additional certification in Leadership, Quality Assurance,
TVET Management or School Improvement will be an added advantage.
Experience
Applicants must demonstrate:
- 3–5
years of progressive educational leadership experience.
- Proven
success in improving academic outcomes and institutional performance.
- Experience
managing multi-level schools comprising Primary, Secondary and/or TVET.
- Experience
in boarding school management is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated
success in leading organizational change and school transformation.
