2025/2026 Rwanda PLE Kinyarwanda Past Paper Released: NESA Primary Leaving Examination Questions and Highlights (July 7, 2026)



 


The National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) officially administered the 2025/2026 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) Kinyarwanda paper on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The examination followed the Mathematics paper and assessed candidates' reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, writing, and language skills under Rwanda's Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

The Kinyarwanda examination consisted of 100 marks, divided into four major sections, challenging candidates to demonstrate their ability to understand texts, apply grammar rules, compose meaningful essays, and express ideas effectively in Kinyarwanda.

Examination Structure

The examination was divided into the following sections:

  • Reading Comprehension (Kumva no Gusesengura Umwandiko) – 30 Marks 
  • Grammar (Ikibonezamvugo) – 25 Marks 
  • Composition/Writing (Ubumenyi rusange bw'ururimi) – 30 Marks 
  • Spelling and Handwriting (Imyandikire) – 15 Marks 

Candidates were instructed to answer all compulsory questions within 2 hours.

Reading Passage Featured in the Examination

One of the main comprehension passages was titled:

"Ubuhanga n'Ubushishozi bwa Salomoni"

The passage focused on the wisdom of King Solomon, describing how he used intelligence, fairness, and wisdom to resolve a difficult dispute between two women who both claimed to be the mother of the same child. The story emphasized justice, critical thinking, honesty, and leadership.
