Post: Database Administrator

Directly reporting to: Head of IT.

SPECIFIC DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED

  • Support the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of organizational databases to ensure availability, security, reliability, and data integrity.
  • Perform routine database operational activities, including backups, restoration, access management, and performance monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, scripts, procedures, and authorized data extracts when required.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues and coordinate with relevant teams or vendors for resolution.
  • Support the day-to-day administration and operation of the Core Banking System.
  • Configure Core Banking System products, parameters, workflows, user roles, and other approved system settings.
  • Investigate and resolve system incidents, transaction errors, data-related issues, and user-reported problems.
  • Support system upgrades, integrations, testing, and implementation of approved changes.
  • Assist users and business teams with Core Banking System functionality and operational requirements.
  • Support reporting, audit, regulatory, and management information requirements.
  • Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to implement system improvements and resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for system configurations, database activities, scripts, changes, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure all database and system activities comply with the organization’s policies, security standards, and change-management procedures.

EDUCATION REQUIRED Bachelor of Computer Science, or Computer Engineering or Information Technology or Electronic & Electrical Engineering PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE DESIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in database administration, application support, or enterprise system support, preferably within a financial institution.
  • Good knowledge of SQL and the ability to develop queries, scripts, procedures, reports, and authorized data extracts.
  • General understanding of database management, security, access control, backup, recovery, performance monitoring, and data integrity.
  • Experience supporting and configuring enterprise applications; experience with a Core Banking System is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to configure system parameters, products, workflows, user roles, and other approved application settings.
  • Experience in system troubleshooting, incident resolution, testing, upgrades, integrations, and change implementation.
  • Understanding of information security, audit, regulatory compliance, and change-management requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with business users, IT teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Relevant database or application-support certification would be an added advantage.

Business Development & Integration Manager

Reporting to Director of Operations

JOB SUMMARY

  • To design strategies that will increase the public’s awareness on VFR products and services. 
  • To develop marketing products, plans, tools, and techniques that will boost VFR market share. 
  • To ensure that VFR achieves and maintains appropriate brand and image. 

Major Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities and weighting (adds to 100%)  Key tasks & outputs    (25%) Development and implementation of the Marketing Strategy. 

  • Develops cost-efficient and effective marketing products and strategies that are appropriate for the desired market;
  • Regularly upgrades/ enhances these marketing products and strategies 
  • Pilot test these marketing products before rollout to the whole institution;
  • Reviews results of pilot test; and Refines these products 
  • Develops “attractive” name and packaging for every loan and deposit product, and other services, if any; 
  • Packages a marketing prospectus for the institution meant for investors, donors, credit providers, technical groups (such as CGAP, Micro save, etc.);
  • Updates the marketing prospectus; 
  • Supervises creation and implementation of plans and methods to create awareness of all products and services offered by the MFI (e.g. newsletter, radio advertising, posters, school competitions, press releases, etc.); 
  • Supervises conduct of customer satisfaction s, competition and market surveys to determine areas for improvement in products and services. Recommends corrective actions and develops plans for COO and Board approval. 
  • Recommends to the senior management any proposed major changes on branch offices or infrastructures, such as relocation, renovation, etc.; 

  (25%) Planning and Budgeting 

  • Prepares an annual marketing plan 
  • Prepares the annual budget for marketing efforts;
  • Reviews the budget quarterly;

  (15%) Communications and Public Relations 

  • Maintains close contact with information network, including WV Regional and National Offices, and the like; 
  • Prepares and edits press releases on behalf of VFR and with approval from the CEO coordinates with different Media houses for final release.
  • Develop promotional leaflets, fliers, calendars, etc
  • Develops proposal to improve the overall image of VFR. 
  • In the immediate term, reviews the corporate color, logo, and other identity; and based on expertise, determines ways to improve them; 

  20% Sales

  • Come up with a sales strategy for VFR 
  • Proactively pursue new business and sales opportunities 
  • Being fully aware of new products and competition status in the market 
  • Achieve growth and hit sales targets 

  (10%) Social Performance and Integration 

  • Ensure that the MFI reaches its target clients (poor, women with dependent children, Area Program), making necessary adjustments to do so (changes in geographical location, introduction of new products, linkages with WV Savings Groups, product processes related to delivery methods, education, etc.) while balancing the need for institutional sustainability; 
  • Ensure that clients and their children are protected and treated with respect in the provision of financial services through implementation of the client protection policies. This includes not over-indebting clients, appropriate debt collection practices, and active mechanisms for client complaint; 
  • Ensure that branch managers and staff are trained in and apply strong social performance practices (per points above); 
  • And any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time 

Education/Experience 

University Degree in economics, Finance, Marketing, business administration and prolonged experience in Microfinance operations. 

Special / Personal Abilities 

  • Determined personality with initiative, perseverance and the ability to motivate and manage a team. 
  • Capability and willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of rectitude 
  • Ready to comply and live up to and in accordance with the organization Ideals and Core Values,

  • Good knowledge in economic and financial topics,
  • Be a good trainer, facilitator, mentor, and coach 
  • Very good communication and marketing skills
