NESA Releases the Official 2026/2027 School Calendar and Key Academic Dates Every Student, Parent and Teacher Should Know

 

The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), through the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), has officially released the Rwanda 2026/2027 School Calendar. The new academic calendar outlines school opening dates, closing dates, holidays, and national examination schedules for the upcoming academic year.

2026/2027 Rwanda School Calendar at a Glance

Term I

• Starts: Monday, 7 September 2026 
• Ends: Friday, 18 December 2026 
• Duration: 15 weeks
• Holiday: 2 weeks 

Term II

• Starts: Monday, 4 January 2027 
• Ends: Friday, 2 April 2027 
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Holiday: 2 weeks 

Term III

• Starts: Monday, 19 April 2027 
• Ends: Friday, 2 July 2027 
• Duration: 11 weeks
• Holiday: 2 months

National Examination Schedule

The official examination timetable includes:

Practical National Examinations

Programs: PBA, TSS, TTC, ACC & ANP

• Start Date: 31 May 2027 
• End Date: 18 June 2027 
• Duration: 3 weeks 

Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE)

• Start Date: 6 July 2027 
• End Date: 8 July 2027 
• Duration: 3 days 

Secondary National Examinations (Written)

• Start Date: 14 July 2027 
• End Date: 23 July 2027 
• Duration: 10 days
