The Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS) has officially announced a nationwide recruitment exercise for Professional Prison Officers. Qualified Rwandan citizens are invited to apply online between 30 June 2026 and 20 July 2026through the official RCS recruitment portal.
This recruitment offers an excellent opportunity for young professionals who wish to serve their country by contributing to security, rehabilitation, and correctional services.
Application Period

Applications must be submitted online through the official Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS) website.
General Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a Rwandan citizen.
- Have full civil rights.
- Demonstrate good character and integrity.
- Have no criminal record.
- Not have been dismissed from public service due to misconduct.
- Not currently be employed in another government institution.
- Have no visible tattoos.
- Meet the physical and medical fitness requirements set by RCS.
Age and Academic Requirements
General Applicants
- Be between 18 and 25 years old.
- Hold an A0 (Bachelor's Degree) or an A1 Diploma recognized in Rwanda.
Applicants in Priority Professional Fields
Candidates with qualifications in the following fields may apply up to the age of 27:
- Medicine
- Engineering
- Nursing
- Law
- Education
- Veterinary Medicine
- Clinical Psychology
Specialized Degree Holders
Applicants with degrees from the University of Rwanda in:
- General Medicine
- General Nursing
- Computer Engineering
- Dental Surgery
may also apply, subject to the specified academic performance requirements.

Selection Process
Eligible applicants will be invited for:
- Document verification
- Medical examination
- Physical fitness assessment
- Written and oral interviews
The selection exercise will be conducted in different provinces and the City of Kigali between 21 July and 23 July 2026, according to the applicant's district of residence.

Candidates will be assessed at designated provincial centers serving:
- Northern Province
- Western Province
- Eastern Province
- Southern Province
- City of Kigali and Bugesera District
