Job responsibilities
FUNCTIONS: Provide Patient Care and Support
to Specialized Doctors TASKS: Ø Promote early and appropriate responses to patients according to
triage times Ø Resuscitate or stabilize patients and refer them to the appropriate
medical departments Ø Act quickly to make a tentative diagnosis and determine the
appropriate course of treatment Ø Initiate and assess the patient’s medical, physical, and
psychosocial status Ø Develop treatment plan Ø Perform regular ward rounds Ø Record
progress notes Ø Order tests, examinations, medications, and therapies Ø Write
medical prescriptions and ensure patients receive all prescribed medications Ø Write
admission notes, progress notes and procedure notes. Ø Provide
patient education and counselling on health status. Ø
Participate in the development and achievement of specific objectives of the
service Ø Ensure quality care to in-patients Ø
Follow-up of ordered investigations Ø Be involved in the management of ward beds Ø Fill the
patient files Ø Assigned other activities within his/her competency by the Head of
service Ø Submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in general medicine with a registration
certificate and valid license to practice medicine in Rwanda issued by a
professional council and should be certified as a medical officer, which is
graded by the professional council. – Proof of completion of the duration of
the public service agreement NOTICE: – Only medical officers who have completed
the duration of the public service agreement will be considered
