The AfOx Graduate Scholarships at the University of Oxford are a prestigious opportunity jointly established by the Mastercard Foundation and the Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx). In collaboration with the Saïd Business School Foundation, this scholarship supports talented African students who are passionate about driving positive change across the African continent. For the 2026–27 academic year, up to five fully funded scholarships are available for the MBA programme at Oxford’s Saïd Business School.

The AfOx Graduate Scholarships are available for Master’s level (MBA) studies at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

The scholarship is offered for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme, designed for individuals who aim to become impactful leaders and entrepreneurs contributing to Africa’s sustainable development.

The AfOx Graduate Scholarship provides full financial support, along with tailored mentorship and leadership training. Key benefits include:

  • Full tuition and college fees at the University of Oxford.
  • A living stipend of at least £20,780 for the duration of study.
  • Networking and leadership development opportunities through AfOx and the Mastercard Foundation.

  • Access to the Saïd Business School Foundation network and AfOx community of scholars and alumni.

Eligible Nationalities

The scholarship is open exclusively to African nationals who are ordinarily resident in any African country.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the AfOx Graduate Scholarship 2026-27, applicants must:

  • Be citizens of an African country.
  • Be ordinarily resident in Africa.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Africa’s development through leadership, community engagement, or professional contributions.
  • Meet the academic and admission requirements of the University of Oxford’s MBA programme.
  • Submit a complete MBA application by the scholarship deadline.

Application Procedure

There is no separate application for the AfOx Graduate Scholarship. Interested candidates should:

  1. Apply for the MBA programme at the University of Oxford through the official application portal.
  2. Submit the application by 7 January 2026, ensuring all required documents and references are included.
  3. If shortlisted, candidates will be invited for an interview by the University.
  4. Successful applicants will automatically be considered for the AfOx Graduate Scholarship.
