Details

Are you a driven professional aiming to advance your career and contribute to sustainable development in your country? The Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarship for Global Professionals (SISGP) offers a golden opportunity: a fully funded scholarship for master’s studies in Sweden, designed to empower global leaders focused on positive change.

 Overview & Purpose

The SISGP is intended for full-time, one- or two-year master’s programmes taught in English at Swedish universities. Its mission is to cultivate a network of global professionals committed to implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in their home countries.

Each year, the Swedish Institute selects talented individuals — especially from countries with fewer opportunities — to study in Sweden and build capacities in leadership, professional growth, and sustainable development.

Who Can Apply & Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following (among others):

  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of one of 33 eligible countries.
  • Master’s Admission: Must apply to and be admitted to an eligible master’s programme in Sweden.
  • Tuition Liability: Must be liable to pay tuition fees at Swedish universities (i.e. not exempt due to nationality or prior arrangements).
  • Work Experience: Must demonstrate prior work experience (full-time, part-time, or freelance) in a professional role.
  • Leadership or Civic Engagement: Documented leadership or civil society involvement is required.
  • Programme Eligibility: The master’s programme you select must be on the list of eligible programmes for the SI scholarship.

Also, dual citizenship, prior Swedish residence, or prior Swedish studies may affect eligibility depending on specific rules.

What the Scholarship Covers

The SISGP is a fully funded package covering essential study costs:

  • Full tuition fees for the master’s programme (paid directly to the university).
  • Monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 to cover living expenses.
  • One-time travel grant: SEK 15,000 (for most countries), and SEK 10,000 for certain Eastern European countries like Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
  • Membership in SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) — a networking and professional development platform.
  • After completing your studies, membership in the SI Alumni Network for ongoing networking and opportunities.

Note: The scholarship does not include family support, health insurance (applicants must arrange or check university provisions), or application fees to University Admissions.

Application Timeline

  • Apply for master’s programmes (via University Admissions) during mid-October to mid-January before the autumn semester.
  • SI publishes eligible programmes around November each year.
  • Scholarship application window is usually open for two weeks in February.
