This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Aalto University Master’s admission 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree equivalent to 180 ECTS credits or a minimum of three years of full-time study.
  • The degree must grant eligibility for master’s studies in the awarding country.

Who needs to pay tuition fees?

Tuition fees apply to students who are not citizens of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland, and who are admitted to English-taught degree programs.

Students do not have to pay tuition fees if they:

  • Hold a permanent residence permit (type P) in Finland.
  • Hold a continuous residence permit (type A) in Finland granted on grounds other than studying.
  • Hold a long-term EU residence permit (type P-EU).
  • Are family members of an EU citizen with a valid residence card.
  • Hold an EU Blue Card.
  • Hold a Brexit residence permit (SEU-sopimuksen 50 artikla).
  • Hold a temporary protection residence permit valid at the beginning of the academic year.

Note: The fee-exempting residence permit must be valid on 1 August 2026 to qualify for exemption.

If the permit expires before August, tuition fees will apply.

How to Apply:

If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen, you can apply for the Aalto University Excellence Scholarship directly on your master’s program application form by selecting “Yes” to the question, “Do you apply for a scholarship?”.

You cannot apply before or after the official application period.
