About the Fellowship
The Bonn International Fellowships aim to:
Promote international academic exchange
Deepen long-term institutional partnerships
Enhance visibility of scholars in Bonn’s academic community
Selected fellows will spend up to 12 days at the University of Bonn in 2026, participating in research events, giving public lectures, and engaging in collaboration-building.
Fellowship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
Travel allowance (amount based on country of origin)
Daily stipend of €160 for up to 12 days (including arrival and departure)
Up to €500 for event-related material expenses, including:
Catering (€50 per guest / €40 for university members)
Public relations and outreach costs
Note: The visit must occur between January 1 and December 31, 2026. All funds must be used before December 31, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, you must be:
A postdoctoral scholar or experienced faculty member
Affiliated with a university or research institution outside Germany
Recognized internationally in your field
Invited by a host from the University of Bonn
Important: Only faculty from the University of Bonn can submit applications. The university does not facilitate introductions between prospective fellows and Bonn faculty.
Selection Criteria
Fellows will be selected based on:
Scientific reputation and international impact in their field
Potential contribution to Bonn’s academic life (seminars, public talks, etc.)
Viable plan for future collaboration and long-term impact of the visit
Application Process
Applications must be submitted by the host at the University of Bonn and should include:
1. Completed online application form
2. A project proposal (max 6 pages PDF) with:
Visit timeline
Fellow’s academic profile and key achievements
Existing collaborations (if any)
Engagement plan within Bonn's academic life
Proposed short- or long-term outcomes
3. Fellow’s informal consent
4. Fellow’s CV
5. Signed invitation letter from the Bonn host
6. Completed financial plan (Excel format provided by the University)
