Kigali, Rwanda – June 22, 2026 – The Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) has officially announced a verification exercise for individuals who may have been unfairly affected by irregularities in teacher recruitment examinations. The move follows investigations that uncovered cases of examination malpractice involving some candidates who participated in employment tests for teaching positions.
According to an official communication issued by REB, investigations conducted in collaboration with relevant government institutions identified candidates who allegedly engaged in cheating during recruitment examinations. The examinations were conducted as part of the teacher recruitment process in several districts across the country. REB has invited individuals who believe they were unfairly denied employment opportunities due to recruitment irregularities to submit their complaints and supporting evidence. The Board aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability in the recruitment process by reviewing all reported cases.
The exercise specifically targets candidates who participated in teacher recruitment examinations conducted between August 1, 2025, and June 9, 2026. Applicants are required to provide relevant documentation and evidence supporting their claims. All submissions will be reviewed to determine whether affected candidates were disadvantaged during the recruitment process.
The latest REB initiative highlights the government's ongoing efforts to promote integrity and transparency in public recruitment processes. As investigations continue, affected candidates now have an opportunity to present their cases and seek fair consideration for employment opportunities within Rwanda's education sector
