MINEDUC to officially launch the 2025/2026 National Practical Examinations

Kigali, 2 June 2026 – The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), through the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), will launch the 2025/2026 National Practical Examinations on Wednesday, 3 June 2026. The launch ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. The nationwide assessment exercise will run until 22 June 2026.

The official launch will take place at St Joseph Integrated Technical College in Nyarugenge District and Karagama Secondary School in Kicukiro District. The Minister of Education will officiate the launch at St Joseph Integrated Technical College, while the Minister of State for Education will preside over the ceremony at Karagama Secondary School.

A total of 74,085 candidates will sit for the practical examinations, including 70,504 school-based candidates and 3,581 private, across 854 examination centres nationwide. The exercise will be supported by 8,484 assessors deployed throughout the country to ensure its smooth and effective administration.

The National Practical Examinations are a key component of Rwanda’s Competence-Based Curriculum and Competence-Based Assessment framework. They evaluate learners’ practical competencies, professional skills, knowledge, and attitudes, ensuring that candidates can apply what they have learned in real-life and workplace settings. Practical examinations will cover candidates from Technical Secondary Schools (TSS), Teacher Training Colleges (TTC), the Associate Nursing Programme (ANP), Accounting (ACC), and Science Project-Based Assessment (PBA) in General Education.

In addition to the official launch ceremonies in Nyarugenge and Kicukiro districts, senior officials from MINEDUC and its affiliated institutions will lead launch activities at selected examination centres across the country.
