REB Teaching and Leadership Recruitment Exam 2026: Mandatory Guidelines Released

The Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) has officially released the crucial guidelines and mandatory regulations for the upcoming written recruitment examinations. This announcement applies to all candidates who have applied for primary and secondary teaching positions, as well as school leadership roles across the country. According to official Document Number REB/DG/3583/2026, signed by the Director General of REB, Nelson Mbarushimana, the examinations will run from June 1, 2026, to June 9, 2026, at decentralized sites within every district.

To ensure a transparent and orderly assessment process, REB has outlined a strict, zero-tolerance code of conduct. Failure to comply with these mandatory rules will result in automatic disqualification from the recruitment process:

First, strict punctuality is required. All candidates must arrive at their designated examination site exactly 30 minutes prior to the start time. Late arrivals will be blocked from entering, and no exceptions will be tolerated once the paper has begun.

Second, venue compliance is mandatory. Candidates are strictly confined to the site assigned to them online. No center swaps, transfer requests, or walk-ins at unassigned sites will be allowed under any circumstances.

Third, identification requirements state that every candidate must present a valid National Identity Card, also known as Indangamuntu, at the entrance gate and inside the examination room to verify their candidacy.

Fourth, regarding prohibited items, mobile phones and related electronic communication gadgets are completely banned inside the examination rooms. Possession of a phone inside the room will lead to immediate disqualification.

Candidates are strongly advised to log on to the official board portal at www.reb.gov.rw no later than May 30, 2026, to view their specific center assignments and room allocations. .

With only a few days remaining before the national exercise kicks off, candidates are encouraged to use this time to review subject-specific core knowledge and pedagogical principles aligned with Rwanda's Competence-Based Curriculum.
