The JAPAN STUDY SUPPORT Scholarship (JPSS) is now open to international students interested in studying in Japan.

Aim and Benefits of JAPAN STUDY SUPPORT Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship

• 300,000 yen will be awarded to four successful applicants after enrollment at the designated university in Japan.

Requirements for JAPAN STUDY SUPPORT Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria.

• Has a registered MY PAGE with JAPAN STUDY SUPPORT (hereinafter JPSS), a website of information for international students that is jointly run by the Asian Students Cultural Association and Benesse Corporation.
• Using the JPSS Scout function, students who plan to enroll in a university or graduate school in April–May 2026. Preparatory courses and short-term study abroad programs are not eligible.
• Recipients of the scholarship are required to cooperate with JPSS activities (e.g., speaking at events, advising prospective international students, or being featured on SNS).
• Is able to interview in either Japanese or English.
• Has a Japanese bank account (in the applicant’s name) in to which scholarship money can be paid. Internet banks will not be accepted.
• Is not a Japanese citizen.

• First round screeing – document screening
• Second round screeing – interview
• Notificiation of successful applicants

Successful applicants will be notified directly. JPSS also plans to publicize the names of successful candidates.

1. Application form (basic information)
2. Essay Please explain why you chose that university (your motivation) and what you consider to be your strength(s), providing specific episodes or reasons. The essay should be within 800 characters in Japanese or 350 words in English. We recommend writing up to the maximum length.
3. Self Introduction Video (no more than 30 seconds in length)
