POSITION: PACK HOUSE OFFICER/NAEB

Key Competences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology, Food Biotechnology.
  • Experience in post-Harvest handling and crop protection will be an added advantage.

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Export Services Division Manager, the Pack House Officer will perform the following duties:

  • Manage daily packhouse operations to ensure fresh produce is sorted, graded, and packed to meet quality, food safety, and export standards.
  • Receive fresh produce at the packhouse and ensure its compliance to food safety requirements;
  • Monitor and record (inventory control) of entry and exit of fresh produce that is being handled into packhouse;
  • Conduct food safety inspections and quality checks;
  • Monitor the reception of production from farm to packhouse and finally to the airport for export
  • Ensure the supervision of the handling process in the Packhouse;
  • Monitor that all horticulture commodities for export adhere to established standards
  • Ensure the packhouse adheres to cleanliness (GMP) standards, and coordinate maintenance to minimize downtime of equipment and materials
  • Supervision of all packhouse activities related to post harvest handling for horticulture products for export efficiently.
  • Advise on proper pre- and post-harvest handling in compliance to the quality standards;
  • Ensure proper implementation of food safety systems and certification in the packhouse;
  • Maintain good relationships with stakeholders in the export of fresh
    produce;
  • Other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.
  • Have professional training in inspection of agricultural export products;
  • Professional training in perishable product handling;
  • Proven ability to implement international quality standards;
  • Organizational and planning skills;
  • Possess good and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work for both day and night shifts.
  • Working knowledge in English, French and Kinyarwanda

Under the direct supervision of the Planning Division Manager, the Database and System Administrator will perform the following duties and responsibilities;

  • System database design, security enforcement, and database performance, including maintaining the data dictionary, monitoring performance, enforcing organizational standards and security;
  • Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading i.e., efficiently importing large volumes of data that have been extracted from multiple systems into a data warehouse environment.
  • Specialized Data Handling i.e., monitoring and tuning to maintain efficiency.
  • Database Backup and Recovery
  •  Security and Authentication: Setting up employee access is an important aspect of database security. DBAs control who has
  •  Capacity Planning: If the company is growing quickly and adding many new users, the DBA will have to create the capacity to handle the extra workload.
  •  Performance Monitoring: Monitoring databases for performance issues is part of the on-going system maintenance a DBA performs.
  • Database Tuning: The physical configuration, the way the database is indexed, and how queries are handled can all have a dramatic effect on database performance.
  • Troubleshooting: DBA needs to quickly understand and respond to problems when they occur.
  • Knowledge of Rwanda’s ICT policies and strategies;
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Windows operating systems;
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products;
  • Proficient in basic networking protocols and standards;
  • Knowledge of AD, Exchange, VPN, routers and wireless internet access;
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software including applications and programming;
  • Interpersonal communication and negotiation skills;

  • Analytical skills;
  • Fluent in Kinyarwanda, English and/or French;

Under the direct supervision of the Emerging Commodities Division Manager, the Eggs Production and Multiplication Technician will perform the following duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the Silkworm Egg Production Plan to meet the annual target of cocoon production;
  • Undertake the silkworm eggs production activities and ensure that mulberry plantations are well maintained for egg production;
  • Distribute the silkworm eggs to farmers on time and ensure timely follow-up for distributed eggs;
  • Advice farmers on issues related to distributed silkworm eggs;
  • Ensure the quality of silkworm eggs distributed;
  • Ensure the quality of cocoons from distributed silkworm eggs;
  • Ensure the quality and reception of cocoons delivered to NSC by farmers;
  • Skills of Sericulture industry, field activities in production and marketing-oriented organization.
  • Proven experience in farmer capacity building and strategic development to empower the agricultural smallholding farmers;
  • Ability to understand agricultural production factors and marketing in the complex business environment;

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Director of Administration and Finance, the Central Secretariat officer will perform the following duties:

  • Office administrative duties such as typing, correspondence, and reports, picking up and distributing mail/division materials, filing, copying, faxing, and contacting;
  • Performs financial administration duties for the department which include preparing and submitting invoices for payment, and preparing purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and other related records;
  • Prepares requisitions, vendor master forms, and other related purchasing forms;
  • Maintains filing system for the Administration and Internal Support Divisions;
  • Types and closes out requisitions and purchase orders; orders office supplies as needed;
  • Receives, processes, and forwards work order requests;
  • Maintains repair logs on copiers and telephones & performs other duties as assigned.
