Apprenticeships are important because they provide structured, hands-on training to develop essential workforce skills, offering individuals a clear career path and earning potential while simultaneously helping employers to build a skilled, motivated, and loyal workforce. Apprentices receive hands-on training and practical experience by working directly under the supervision of professionals and mentors in a specific field. The Programme is implemented in accordance with the Employment Act, Cap. 226, the Employment Regulations, 2011, and the Uganda National Apprenticeship Framework (UNAF), 2018.

The Government of Uganda (GoU) recognizes the need to address youth unemployment and underemployment through Apprenticeship training. To this end, the GoU has allocated funding to support placement of apprentices.
