The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development
(MGLSD) is implementing the National Apprenticeship and Graduate Volunteer
Programme. The Programme aims at improving youth transition into employment and
enhancing labour productivity, as part of the national efforts to address the

through Apprenticeship training.
Internship opportunities
Apprenticeship is a form of structured work-based learning
that combines on-the-job and off-the-job training, equipping participants with
practical competencies required for specific occupations, and ends with formal
assessment and
Apprenticeships are important because they provide
structured, hands-on training to develop essential workforce skills, offering
individuals a clear career path and earning potential while simultaneously
helping employers to build a skilled, motivated, and loyal workforce.
Apprentices receive hands-on training and practical experience by working
directly under the supervision of professionals and mentors in a specific
field. The Programme is implemented in accordance with the Employment Act, Cap.
226, the Employment Regulations, 2011, and the Uganda National Apprenticeship
Framework (UNAF), 2018.
The Government of Uganda (GoU) recognizes the need to
address youth unemployment and underemployment through Apprenticeship training.
To this end, the GoU has allocated funding to support placement of apprentices.

The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development
(MGLSD) is implementing the National Apprenticeship and Graduate Volunteer
Programme. The Programme aims at improving youth transition into employment and
enhancing labour productivity, as part of the national efforts to address the
growing challenge of youth unemployment and its ramifications. One of the key
objectives of the Programme is to develop work-readiness skills among the fresh

Apprenticeship programs
Graduate Volunteerism involves the engagement of individuals
of working age in unpaid work aimed at acquiring employable skills, gaining
work experience, building professional networks, and enhancing social standing
