Admission Requirements & Language Tracks

LU welcomes local, international, transfer, and visiting students. Admission involves meeting academic and language criteria, depending on which track you choose: English, Arabic, or French.

• Arabic-track programs
  Applicants must demonstrate Arabic language proficiency. If not already qualified, a university-administered test will determine eligibility or placement into foundational Arabic studies.
• English-track programs
  A minimum 65% average in secondary school is required for many English programs (especially in IT).
  Applicants may be required to take an English proficiency test administered by LU, particularly if their prior schooling was not in English.
  For non-English programs (Education, Arts, Commerce), this requirement may be relaxed.
• French-track programs
  Applicants with French baccalaureate credentials or equivalent may be eligible; otherwise, they’ll take a French proficiency test and may be required to enroll in a foundational French program if not already proficient.

Transfer and visiting students must satisfy language requirements and submit authenticated transcripts, course descriptions, and equivalency documentation.

Prospective students must submit:

• High school certificate / secondary school credentials (local or equivalent)

• Copy of passport
• Personal photograph (on specified background)
• For transfers: sealed transcripts, course descriptions, equivalence approval
• For local students: Qatari ID (as applicable)

For applicants who don’t initially meet language benchmarks, LU provides placement tests, and depending on results, students may enroll in foundational language courses while taking some university courses (limited to 12 credits).

Tuition, Fees & Discounts

LU charges tuition according to credit hours per program:

• Foundation Year: 2,000 QAR per credit
• Bachelor’s programs:
• Commerce & Business, Education & Arts, Law: ~1,500 QAR per credit hour
• Information Technology: ~2,500 QAR per credit hour

Other fees include:

• Application fee: 100 QAR
• Placement test fee: 150 QAR per test
• One-time student services fee: 2,500 QAR

• 60%: Students with special needs
• 50%: National top performers in sports, arts, sciences; children of LU staff
• 40%: Students with 95%+ in high school or patent holders
• 35% / 30%: High-achieving students with 90–94%; students with GPA ≥ 3.5
• 10–30% sibling discounts
