Graphic Designer at United
Nations Development Programme: (Deadline 23 November 2025)
Job Description
Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of
equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the
elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of
women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and
beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and
security.
Care work is fundamental to human
well-being and essential for a vibrant, sustainable economy and society, given
that all people receive and give care at various points of their lives
(Esquival 2014, Razavi 2007). Care encompasses the provision of face-to-face
personal services to meet the physical and emotional needs of individuals, as
well as daily household chores, and activities for the benefit of the
community. Yet all over the world, women and girls take on a disproportionate
share of this work, which is frequently unpaid, unrecognized and undervalued,
and subsequently can entrench women in the cycle of poverty (ILO 2018,
Sepulveda Carmona 2013).
To address the inequities in unpaid
care, UN Women developed the Transformative Approaches to Recognize, Reduce,
and Redistribute (3R) Unpaid Care Work in Women Economic Empowerment
Programming in Rwanda to be implemented in Rwanda, from 1 May 2021 to 30
April 2026 with a global component to support the development and
implementation of global policy tools. The overarching goal of the programme is
to remove the structural barriers to women’s full and equal participation in
the economy by recognizing, reducing, and redistributing unpaid care work.
The consultant will be reporting to
the Unpaid Care Work Programme Coordinator, and will be supported by the
communications consultant. The Unpaid Care Work Programme Coordinator will be
the point of contact on the contract and payment issues.
