Equipping Our Educators: REB Launches Training for Remedial Teaching and Learning Strategies
The Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) is pleased to announce a major step forward in its commitment to foundational learning: the launch of a nationwide training program for teachers on Remedial Teaching and Learning strategies. This initiative underscores the government's renewed focus on ensuring every child achieves core literacy and numeracy skills.
The New Remedial Teaching and Learning Program
The Remedial Teaching and Learning Program has been launched in 400 lower primary schools across all Districts. This program is specifically designed to support P1 to P3 learners who are facing challenges in core foundational subjects.
Key Focus Areas:
Kinyarwanda
English
Mathematics
The goal is to equip teachers with effective, research-backed strategies to close learning gaps and ensure struggling students receive the individualized support they need to succeed during the 2025/2026 school year.
Teacher Training Kicks Off
The critical first phase of this program is the training of foundational subject teachers from the selected schools. The training workshops will be conducted by REB's partner, Silver Bells Ltd.
The workshops are set to commence on 4th October 2025, with the full schedule and training centers being shared with relevant District officials. By building the capacity of our teachers, we are investing directly in a brighter, more capable future for our students.
The Director General of the Rwanda Basic Education Board, Dr. MBARUSHIMANA Nelson, signed the announcement, highlighting the commitment of the REB to this vital program.
