The British Council in Rwanda is seeking meticulous, customer‑focused Exams Invigilators to ensure secure, fair, and smooth test administration on test days. This role is ideal for reliable professionals who communicate clearly, follow procedures precisely, and uphold exam integrity and candidate wellbeing.
Role Purpose
Ensure that British Council examinations are delivered to
prescribed standards of security, administration, and customer service,
maintaining the integrity and reputation of the British Council and partner
exam boards.
Key Responsibilities
Programme / Service Delivery
- Report
to the test venue on time; promptly inform supervisors of any delays or
issues.
- Follow
all exam procedures and standards provided by the British Council and
relevant exam boards.
- Be
familiar with venue emergency procedures.
- Invigilate
examinations to required standards; actively monitor candidates to prevent
violations.
- Ensure
all materials are accounted for and securely handed over to the
supervisor.
- Complete
reports, logs, and claims accurately and on time.
- Immediately
report incidents, emergencies, or security breaches to the test day
supervisor.
- Support
the supervisor to deliver a consistent, positive test‑day experience for
all candidates.
- Perform
additional, role‑related duties as required.
Customer Support
- Guide
candidates clearly to enable smooth flow and respond to enquiries
professionally.
- Enforce
procedures for storing personal belongings and maintaining exam security.
- Conduct
candidate entry/exit checks, identity verification, and Test Day
Photography as required.
- Implement
approved special arrangements where applicable.
Compliance
- Follow
policies on Data Protection, Child Protection (Safeguarding), Health
& Safety, Equal Opportunities & Diversity, and Anti‑Fraud at
all times.
Training & Development
- Attend
all briefings and training sessions.
- Complete
mandatory modules (e.g., Data Protection, Safeguarding, Health &
Safety, Equal Opportunities & Diversity, Anti‑Fraud, Identity Checks).
Person Specification
Minimum / Essential
- Diploma
or equivalent qualification (any subject).
- Customer
service experience, including professional interaction with
children/young people and parents/guardians.
Desirable
- Awareness
of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young
people.
Other Role Features
- Some
posts may require travel, including occasional overnight stays (you
will indicate willingness during recruitment).
- High
vigilance required: remain observant and attentive throughout exam
sessions.
- Dress
professionally and in line with local cultural expectations; soft,
quiet footwear is recommended (no noisy shoes or distracting
jewellery).
Eligibility & Sponsorship
- You must
have the legal right to work in Rwanda at the time of application.
- Visa
sponsorship and relocation support are not available.
